Work Location Options: Hybrid Directly reporting to Manager Controllership for American Express Belgium, Netherlands & Luxembourg, this position will be responsible for the financial integrity of American Express in the Netherlands Core responsibilities will include: month end fluctuation analysis and sanity testing of the financial results and balance sheet evolution, supporting the local statutory financial statements preparation and audit procedures, preparation of financial presentations for the entities Boards and other Committees analysing main accounting implications for certain transactions under USGAAP, IFRS and Local Netherlands GAAP, preparing legal entity forecast, projections and collaborating proactively within National Bank (DNB) regulatory and reporting requirements. Perform USGAAP month-end close procedures and document controls to ensure accuracy and integrity for the Netherlands entities Profit & Loss accounts and Balance Sheets Identify unusual trends and entries within the local ledgers, plan remediation actions and enact solutions Support the local statutory financial statement preparation Support leading future IFRS transition for the Netherlands entities Support legal entity Reporting team and liaise with the external auditors to support the completion of the statutory financial statements Support legal entity forecast and projections Assess Local GAAP implications for key business transactions Ensure adequate controls are set to identify potential weaknesses and avoid any material financial error Keep close track on intercompany transactions and ensuring a strict governance/ compliance with existing Transfer Pricing policy Collaborate within National Bank of The Netherlands regulatory and reporting requirements Perform ad hoc accounting routines as and when necessary, prepare journal entries and review reconciliations prepared by the centres of excellence teams Strong technical accounting background, experience in accounting, statutory audits, reporting and planning (proven experience within a similar role) Strong financial analytical and problem-solving skills Advanced knowledge of IFRS, US GAAP and Dutch GAAP accounting principles Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Strong verbal and written communication skills in Dutch (fluent) and English are required High proficiency in MS-Office environment (required experience in Excel and Essbase knowledge preferable) Being able to work and coordinate with different teams (both local and international) based in different regions and time zones High capacity to adapt to changes and new processes and taking ownership thereof with a proactive approach Being able to manage workloads, prioritize tasks and work to strict deadlines ERP knowledge preferable (Oracle, HFM, Power BI…) We back our colleagues and their loved ones with benefits and programs that support their holistic well-being.
