What You’ll Do In this role, you will balance technical expertise with leadership responsibilities. Your tasks will include: Leading data engineering initiatives: Oversee the design, development, and implementation of scalable data engineering solutions using Azure to meet client requirements and business objectives. Cloud infrastructure design: Optimise cloud-based environments for businesses, supporting operations in areas like digital marketing, eCommerce, and business intelligence. Client collaboration: Work directly with clients to understand their needs and create cloud data solutions that deliver tangible results, aligning technical and business goals. Data governance and compliance: Provide strategic guidance on best practices for data governance, security, and compliance throughout the data lifecycle across various cloud platforms. Stakeholder management: Build and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and successful execution of data engineering initiatives. Team performance optimisation: Lead and mentor your team to deliver efficient, scalable solutions that meet industry standards and client expectations. Practice development: Drive the growth of the data engineering practice by staying abreast of industry trends, developing new service offerings, and contributing to thought leadership in cloud computing and data strategy. Team leadership: Foster a culture of continuous learning and skill development in Azure-related technologies. What You’ll Bring To succeed in this role, you should have: A BSc or MSc in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 10+ years of experience in Data Engineering, with at least 5+ years in a senior management or Director role or similar leadership position. Proven expertise in cloud-based data solutions using Azure, with experience in tools like Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, or other Azure-native technologies. Strong understanding of cloud computing, data warehousing, and analytics, with hands-on experience using Azure-native tools. Experience in stakeholder management, with the ability to engage and influence senior executives and non-technical stakeholders. A solid background in business development, with an ability to identify new business opportunities, particularly in cloud-based services. Proven success in leading and delivering large-scale data engineering projects on time and within budget. Understanding of data governance frameworks and experience ensuring data privacy and compliance within cloud environments. A passion for best practices in software development and data engineering, ensuring your team upholds high-quality standards. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with fluency in English. Experience in a multilingual environment is a plus. Certifications in Azure, such as Azure Data Engineer Associate, are desirable.
