Job Summary:
We are seeking a Transportation Pricing & Carrier Manager EU based in our Rotterdam office (Port City Building – Waalhaven).
The Transportation Pricing & Carrier Manager will support the pricing and carrier management functions for FTL and LTL operations within Lineage’s centralized Transportation Management Team. This role will be responsible for sourcing carrier capacity, executing carrier bids, managing carrier relationships and assisting with pricing analysis. The manager will work closely with operations teams across Europe to ensure service and cost targets are met, provide support for new business opportunities and assist with improving transportation processes.
An important objective for the future is to centralize the transportation pricing function and set up internal and external collaborations to drive progress and result. Within the near future it is expected that you will be able to grow your own team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify, contact and attract new carriers and road transport service providers to support the growth of our operations in Europe.
- Forge strong and collaborative relationships with carriers, negotiating mutually beneficial agreements and contracts.
- Monitor, assess and manage carrier performance through developing and using scorecards, identifying areas for improvement and collaboration with operations to resolve issues.
- Assist in carrier onboarding, ensuring compliance with contracts, insurance, and safety standards.
- Execute pricing analysis and carrier management for FTL, LTL, and Final Mile services in close collaboration with operations.
- Coordinate and facilitate RFQ/RFP processes for carrier bids and pricing, ensuring that carrier rates and capacity align with network needs.
- Analyze carrier bids, rate increases, and cost data to support day-to-day decision-making.
- Assist in securing commitments and awarding business to preferred carriers, working with operations teams to address any service or performance issues.
- Support pricing for new business opportunities, working alongside sales, fleet operation, finance and carrier partners to ensure competitive pricing.
- Track product flow and review transportation processes to identify opportunities for process and service improvements and cost reductions.
- Maintain and update pricing models for existing customers, assisting with periodic reviews and contract adjustments as needed.
- Review logistics processes, transportation costs, and fulfillment metrics to help drive efficiency.
- Utilize data analysis tools such as Excel and PowerBI to support operational decision-making and process improvements.
- Stay updated on on industry trends and changes in the European road transport sector, providing strategic insights to the management team.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Finance, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- At least 3-5 years of proven experience in transportation pricing, carrier management, or logistics operations in an European context
- Experience with FTL, LTL, final mile, and temperature-controlled transportation services preferred.
- Excellent internal and external stakeholder management.
- Strong negotiation skills and ability to build relationships with carriers.
- Profound knowledge of the European road transportation industry and associated regulation and laws.
- Proficiency with Transportation Management Software (TMS)
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and familiarity with PowerBI or other data analysis tools.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and collaborate effectively with internal teams.
- Ability to travel as necessary.
