Head of Operations - Maritime
You are a dynamic, technically strong, and operationally experienced Head of Operations, leading our operational and technical teams in delivering world-class IT solutions tailored to the Maritime and River Cruise hospitality industry. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, good technical knowledge and a operational mindset to manage deployments, upgrades and ongoing service delivery across the range of Maritime customers. Activities are mostly done from the office in Arnhem, but international involvement is expected to grow over time.
You will be reporting to the Regional Director in Europe, working closely together with Financial Management and Sales Management as well as wider Blue Wireless organization. The primary workplace for the position is in Arnhem and will require you to be in the office during working hours.
So, what will be on your plate? (key responsibilities)
Team Management
Lead day-to-day operations of the Maritime department focusing on:
Managing a team of dozen operations staff, ranging from Customer Success Managers, Network Engineers, Delivery Staff and Technical Support staff.
Operational Leadership
Overall project planning, resource allocation, budgeting across multiple customer deployments in an international environment
Define and monitor KPIs to ensure efficient and timely delivery of services and projects withing the relevant budget constraints
Work with the departments in the wider Blue Wireless organization such as Sales, Procurement, HR and Finance to manage the objectives efficiently
In-Life Customer Ownership
Ensure good coordination with the sales function so that new customers, solutions and orders are smoothly executed by the operations team.
Manage executive relations with customers and be an escalation point for issues that need management attention.
Strategic Planning
Contribute to the company’s roadmap by providing insights on Maritime IT trends, guest tech expectations and operational challenges
Support business development by joining industry forums, customer experience feedback and partnership discussions
If you -
have Team Management experience and able to manage teams of technical and operational professionals
have at least 10 years relevant work experience, of which 5 years include managing teams
can communicate professionally in Dutch and English, both in local and global settings
are well-organized and can manage various resources and timelines, and is able to handle the stress and responsibility
are a technical expert in the following (not a must but a huge advantage)
Maritime connectivity – Satellite (Starlink), 5G/LTE
Network design and segmentation (e.g. VLANS, SDWAN, Firewalls)
Networking Platforms like Peplink, Fortinet, Cisco, Aruba or similar
Guest facing technologies (Wi-Fi, IPTV, Smart Cabins/Ships, Guest Captive Portals)
have at least HBO (Hoger Beroepsonderwijs) or WO (Wetenschappelijk Onderwijs) education level
